Nick Heal, Vice Chair of Governors
Nick has been a teacher for over 10 years, holding a variety of leadership roles, including Head of Department and Research Lead. He is currently Data Manager at St Mary Magdalene School in Greenwich. Nick has dyslexia, and his drive to work in education was born out of his own experience of the limits of schooling, and moreover how transformative good teachers can be.
Nick is committed to developing schools where all young people can flourish, he recently completed an MSc in Education Policy from Oxford University. He was also a founding faculty member of two schools: the Charter School East Dulwich, one of the most oversubscribed schools in the country, and The New School, a pioneering alternative school in Croydon. Nick brings knowledge and experience of school development, safeguarding, policy and cutting-edge education research.
Nick lives in Brockley, South London with his wife and two young daughters (1 and 4). He is an endurance sport enthusiast and recently completed Ironman Wales, raising the seed funding to form a charity that will support young people with special educational needs from disadvantaged and marginalised backgrounds.
