On Monday, 2nd December, Vanguard School welcomed expert trainers from Talk The Talk to deliver the inspiring Talk About The Future workshop to our Year 11 and 12 students. This transformative session aimed to equip students with the confidence and oracy skills needed to articulate their unique life experiences and showcase their employability value.

The workshop provided a safe, supportive environment where students learned to identify their skills and share their stories. Through interactive discussions and activities, they discovered that speaking out is not as daunting as it seems—it’s an empowering experience that unlocks new possibilities.

One of the highlights was witnessing students step out of their comfort zones to present their ideas and reflections. By the end of the session, their confidence had visibly grown, and they left with a greater sense of self-belief and the ability to communicate effectively in a range of situations.

This impactful day was made possible thanks to the generous support of the Jack Petchey Foundation. The Foundation, created by Sir Jack Petchey CBE, has invested over £143 million to inspire and support young people aged 11-25 across London and Essex. Their contribution to workshops like this ensures that students continue to develop the skills they need to thrive in the future.

Since its inception in 2013, Talk The Talk has trained over 115,000 students across England and Wales to become confident communicators. Their mission to improve oracy skills and social outcomes resonates deeply with Vanguard School’s values.
